Tangled Yoke progress

Tangled Yoke progress
Originally uploaded by beanthree
After working on the entrelac swatch all last weekend, I picked back up with the Tangled Yoking. In this picture the sleeve wasn't complete, but I have finished sleeve #1 now! Yay! If I keep my nose to the grindstone on this I hope to finish sleeve #2 before I fly out to the frozen prairie for Xmas. I raked leaves all this afternoon, so I have some mean-looking blisters on my thumbs, but that shouldn't stop me from knitting (I hope).

Entrelac swatch

Entrelac swatch

I was getting bored with the miles of stockinette in the round with the Tangled Yoke Cardi, so I started thinking about all the sock yarn that is calling to me from my stash. The one that is in my mind the most right now is this Claudia Handpaint in Chocolate Cherry, which was a birthday gift from the lovely Agentscarlet. I love the brown and pink together, and I want a pattern that will really show it off. Beanstealer suggested entrelac, so I made a swatch following Eunny's pattern in Interweave. I think the contrast in the color changes is competing with the block pattern of the entrelac. I might try Monkey with this yarn or possibly just a baby cable rib instead. Anybody have any ideas?

Tangled Yoke -- you will be mine!

When I saw Eunny's Tangled Yoke Cardigan in IK, I knew I had to make it. I have had a crush on Eunny's designs for a while, but they're usually totally intimidating. This one, though, is a seamless yoked cardigan with only one repeat of a cable pattern and no sewing. Right on!

I swatched the cable in a deep purple color. It came out really nicely, except the dark color didn't do much to show off the cable, so I knew I needed to use a lighter color for the sweater. My birthday was coming up so I felt justified in ordering the pattern yarn for myself from Webs: Rowan Felted Tweed. The pattern shows a light oatmeal color called Wheat, but that would be covered with black dog hair in no time, so I chose the next shade darker, Camel.
